Eurobodalla Shire Council Enhances Beach Safety

The Eurobodalla Shire Council has taken the first step in enhancing the safety for residence and visitors to our local beaches for next season. The council has been quick to respond to what is perceived to be an area of concern by funding an urgent upgrade in the beach advisory and warning signs for all surf club and lifeguard patrolled beaches within the shire.

Clubs and lifeguards will now have a beach safety report for their particular beach outlining;
Tides
Water temp
Surf conditions
Patrol Hours
Wind direction
And the name of the lifeguard or patrol captain

These signs will be located at the main surf beaches of Malua Bay Beach, Broulee South (Bengello) Beach, Moruya & Narooma Beaches. The signs will also be in use at the lifeguard patrolled beaches over Christmas school holidays at Surf Beach, Tuross One Tree beach and Dalmeny Beach

Eurobodalla Shire Council has also equipped the clubs and Lifeguards with danger warning signs such as dangerous rips, Stingers and beach closure signs. These signs will advise the public of any dangers that are present at a particular area of the beach.

It is hoped that with this additional advice that the swimmers will think twice before entering the water where these signs are posted.

Eurobodalla Shire Council and Surf Life Saving Far South Coast are hopeful that these new signs will make it easier for the public to identify dangers and encourage them to talk to the lifeguards and lifesavers on the beaches.
